Renovating:

Bathroom Demo 1     Bathroom Demo 2    Bathroom Demo 3

Bathroom area prior to renovation.  All walls were removed and insulated using a spray foam insulation.  We also found the existing ceiling could be removed to increase the ceiling height from 8 to 10 feet.

Rebuild 1 Rebuild 2 Rebuild 3 Rebuild 4

We decided to install two interior maple framed windows to allow natural light from the bathroom to permeate the hall area.  The original 8 foot bathroom ceiling was removed and returned to its original 10 foot height.  The bulkhead is for the shower enclosure.  All plumbing supply and drainage was redone, as the original fixture layout was changed.  We opted for PEX supply tubing for ease in installation.

  Finish 1 Finish 2 Finish 3 Finish 4

Maple framed windows finished.  Shower enclosure with glass installed.  Sliding maple pocket door to maximize bathroom area.  Casings, plinths (bottom of casing) and rosettes (top of casing).  3/4 inch solid oak flooring, pin nailed.

Electrical:

Electrical service panel     Fire interrupt

Main service panel and a corresponding fire interrupt system for a Dominoes pizza store.  The fire interrupt, in case of emergency/fire at the oven area, simultaneously turns off the ovens and building fresh air fans, while keeping the building extractor fans running.

Tiling:

Prior Tiling 1Prior Tiling 2After Tiling 1After Tiling 2

The first two pictures show the subfloor after we installed wire tile mesh and a thin skim coating in preparation of the tiles.  The wire mesh and skim coating provide a base over the wood substrate.  It is never a good idea to lay tiles over top of a wood substrate, without the use of the mesh and skim coat.  The last two samples are after the porcelain tiles and grout were done.

Structural:

Prior1    During1

The first picture shown here is an example of a basement wall prior to creating an opening.  Second is the opening after rough in.  We opted for metal lintel over wood because of strength.  Wood has the possibilty of sagging over time.  Better to be over-engineered when it comes to strength.

Excavating:

Sewer Pipe Excavating 1     Sewer Pipe Excavating 2

This job was a sewer pipe excavation and repair.
